Object #3 / Arnold Schönberg: Thoughts on Plants and Planting Treesca. 1925

Arnold Schönberg Center, Wien

Schönberg’s desire in the realization of ideas encompasses all mediums, sound as well as image and writing, the processing of which allows for individual expression and design – nature, landscape and garden are also subjects of discussion.

“It must be possible to plant very young trees in such a way that enables you to take them out again easily when they are large. You can do this by hammering in several poles down to the average depth of the roots. These poles are intended to loosen the earth around the tree later on without damaging the roots, and to keep a space free of roots.”
